This stunning, silver-screen Shelby, pictured above, will hope to wow the judges when it comes to Salon Privé in a few weeks.
The Shelby Cobra Mk1 is the fifth Cobra ever made and has been entered into the Chubb Concours d’Elégance at the Blenheim Palace event on Thursday 30 August.
Its first owner sold it back to Shelby American in August 1963 for a different Cobra and it was repainted before starring in Universal Studios' 1964 revenge thriller The Killers, which had a cast including Lee Marvin, John Cassavetes and Ronald Reagan.
Once returned to Shelby America for a second time, the damage incurred during filming was repaired before it was put to work as the ‘trainer car’ at the Shelby School of High Performance Driving.
More recently, this Cobra was restored by Mike McCluskey of California and, notably, it still has his original engine.
But if the Shelby Cobra is going to take the top gong at the concours, it's going to have to beat this wild Koenig-Ferrari 512BB – that featured in the May 2018 issue of C&SC.
