Action at the 2018 Goodwood Revival wasn’t just limited to the track – with over 300 items crossing the block at Bonhams’ auction.
And commanding £1,359,000, this 1964 Shelby Cobra 289CI Competition Roadster was the sale’s priciest lot.
Chassis number CSX 2430 is one of only 32 factory-built competition Cobras and was campaigned extensively in period, first by ‘Gentleman’ Tom Payne.
More recently, it’s been restored by marque authority Bill Murray, at which point it was also prepared for historic racing with items including a five-point safety harness fitted – these modern additions have since been removed, but its lucky next owner will get them as part of this sale.
