‘Speed Kings – Motorsport’s Record Breakers’ has been revealed as the theme for this summer’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It’s been designed to encompass and celebrate a broad range of achievements, from Land Speed Record breakers to those with accolades to their name including the most pole positions, fastest laps, consecutive victories and championships.
All of which should mean there’s a feast of special machinery on show and on the hill when the event opens its doors between 4-7 July.
There’s little news yet regarding the cars that will be there, but if ‘Babs’, the 1926 Land Speed Record breaker pictured above, returns to Goodwood after an appearance six years ago, we’re sure it’ll be a serious crowd pleaser.
Indeed, the Festival of Speed itself could have a new record breaker of its own come July.
This year’s event will be the 20th anniversary of the one when Nick Heidfeld took the outright record up the Goodwood Hill in a McLaren MP4/13.
