Though critics have been known to decry it as a bastardised Jaguar – it’s based on the same platform as the XJ-S and its engine is a Jag AJ6 with an Eaton supercharger – it earned hugely positive reviews thanks to its blend of superb performance and stylish looks. And now it’s getting a birthday party.
More than 300 cars are expected at Simply Aston Martin, which takes place at Beaulieu on Sunday 7 April, and the event will include a special area dedicated to the DB7. There’ll be a wealth of models on display, from coupés to V12 Volante convertibles and more.
Outside of the DB7, modern-day Astons will be well-represented, from the DB9 and DBS to the Vantage and Vanquish – but there’ll also be plenty of classic DB models spanning the decades from the ’50s and ’60s through to those of the ’70s and ’80s. And of course you can also expect to see some of the earliest – and rarest – Astons from the 1930s and ’40s.
The event's People’s Choice Award will be voted for by showgoers throughout the day, and with the Aston Martin Owners’ Club out in force, there’s guaranteed to be plenty of choice.
Tickets include entrance to the National Motor Museum, where visitors will be able to see a particularly special vehicle: a 1922 Aston Martin 1.5-litre Strasbourg, one of just two built to take part in the 1922 French Grand Prix. For more information, head to the Beaulieu website.
