Love Fast Fords? Then you’ll want to check out the fabulous foursome on offer at next weekend’s Classic Car Auctions sale.

The auction at the Classic Car & Restoration Show features a quartet of rare and desirable vehicles, including an Escort RS2000 X- Pack and a timewarp Fiesta XR2. 

With an Escort RS1600i and a limited-edition Mustang CS GTS also up for grabs, there’s plenty of variety on offer – albeit coupled with some fairly eye-watering price tags.

1977 Escort RS2000 has a 150bhp X-Pack engine kit

Leading the way is the fresh-from-storage unmodified and original 1977 Escort RS2000. 

It’s been with the same family for the past three decades and it really is something special: it was the publicity car for the Tricentrol dealership group and features nearly all of the X-pack performance options.

What that means in practice is that it has a 150bhp X-Pack engine kit, plus Scheel seats, Ford-stamped arches and spoiler and more; a comprehensive history file is the icing on the cake.

All that extra performance comes at a price premium, though – it’s expected to make £30-38,000 when it goes under the hammer at the NEC Birmingham on 23-24 March.

Not your style? Then how about the Mustang – a ’68 CS GTS, no less, and one of just 3867 built.

Available for one year only, the ‘California Special’ was distinguishable from standard Mustangs by its glassfibre bootlid, ‘ducktail’ spoiler, Shelby side-scoops, blacked-out grille and more.

This lime-gold metallic, four-owner, 105,430-mile example comes with 50 years of receipts in a large history file which also includes the original bill of sale, and has a pre-sale guide price of £20-25,000.

Or for the same estimated price, what about a 1983 Escort RS1600i?

One of 2500 made for the UK, it’s benefited from a full nut and bolt restoration, mostly to its original specification, and is being sold with a new MoT from a Ford main dealer.

Alternatively, step back in time with a 1984 Fiesta XR2 that was sold through the manufacturer’s Employee Scheme in the ’80s by a friend of the current owner’s family.

It was driven for just two years, before being stored in 1986 with just 23,670 miles on the clock, and it’s estimated it will find its next owner for £14-18,000.

“The Escort RS1600 is going to be one to watch, as we sold a similar car last year which went for a record price of £46,000 including fees. The X-Pack is also very special and it will be interesting to see what it achieves,” said Gary Dunne from CCA.

“I do love the Fiesta XR2, a great story and very well preserved. The Mustang is a great looking car and this particular one is extremely rare, so one for the collector.”
