For the sixth running of Hagerty’s Festival of the Unexceptional on 20 July, a new Anniversary concours class will give cars passing a notable milestone in 2019 the chance to shine.
We’re talking the half-century of both the base-spec Ford Capri and the Austin Maxi, the 40th birthday of the Vauxhall Astra and so on, workaday heroes that can now relax and enjoy their time in the limelight with a special class in the Concours de l’Ordinaire.
The event also has a new venue for 2019: Claydon Estate in Buckinghamshire.
Visitors will be able to pore over the 50 concours cars on show, as well as 30 commercial vehicles, six ’bikes and 12 invited show vehicles, all of which were once considered mundane but now, with the passing years and increasing rarity, are being appreciated as interesting classics.
Plus, around 500 ‘unexceptional’ cars brought by showgoers are expected to fill the car park – and don’t forget the Feast of the Unexceptional, participants encouraged to pack a period picnic that reflects the era of their car.
Want your car to be considered for the concours? It’s open to classic cars and light commercial vehicles from 1966-’96 and owners must register by 31 May here.
Free public admission tickets will be available for the annual brilliance of basic bash from 23 April here.
"Our annual celebration of our motoring heritage continues to help raise the underlying issue that more and more of the cars we used to see on the road are fast becoming extinct," said Angus Forsyth, Hagerty’s Managing Director.
