Who’d have thought that Jaguar XJ220s were like buses? That’s right, you wait for ages and two come along at once – yes, really.

That’s right, two of these British supercars – once the world’s fastest production cars with 3.5 sec 0-60mph times – have been consigned to Silverstone Auctions’ British Marques sale at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire on 11 May.

The auction, in association with the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club, will form part of the 10-12 May Jaguar Festival.

Let’s enjoy a closer look at these two stunners.

The 1997 example pictured above and finished in the evocatively named Spa Silver is left-hand drive, and comes with a pre-sale estimate of £300-350,000.

It was delivered new to Germany and has since covered just 20,800km (under 13,000 miles).

That it’s recently had £50,000 spent on it at Jaguar’s own Classic Works is surely a reassurance to any prospective bidder, details of which are in the car’s history file that’ll be available to view at the auction.

Its Smoke Grey cabin sits well with the silver exterior and this UK registered car will be sold with the registration plate '220 XXK'.

However, Silverstone Auctions predicts you’ll need even deeper pockets to secure the other XJ220.

It’s a Le Mans Blue, right-hand-drive car from 1995 and it’s anticipated to fetch around £325-375,000 – that it has done a smidgeon over 700 miles in its 24 years might help explain that price.

The car’s current custodian found it in a private collection in Malaysia and brought it back to the UK, before sending it to model expert Don Law in December 2015. This led to £25,000 of work being done to it, all of which is documented in the car’s paperwork.

A set of newly developed, model-specific, Pirelli tyres will be fitted by Jaguar’s Classic Works before it goes under the hammer.

Two pretty special cars, then. And they’ll be joined by a host of other Jaguars at this sale, including E-types, an XK150S and a 14,700-mile 1994 XJS drop-top. See the full lot list here.
