Motorsport wizard Prodrive has launched a new programme to restore and authenticate its more than 1100 historic race and rally cars.
The Banbury-based firm says it’s taken the move due to increasing numbers of people campaigning its vehicles, and asking for help in bringing them back to full health.
And given that it’s built in excess of 700 Subaru rally cars and nearly 40 BMW E30 M3s since it was established in 1984, there are certainly plenty of Prodrive stars around.
Prodrive Legends, as it will be known, will be solely for Prodrive cars and includes a fixed-price authentication service to ascertain if a chassis is a genuine Prodrive vehicle, plus works-spec engine rebuilds, servicing, competition preparation and ground-up restorations.
And all restoration work will take place at the company’s Banbury base.
“Many of these cars are now appreciating classics with immense value to their passionate owners,” says Paul Howarth, head of motorsport operations.
