A 1961 Chevrolet Corvette was the top seller in the first of a diverse two-part sale, when it achieved $77,007 yesterday.
It was one of 20 lots to cross the virtual block, all of which came from the Hadjopulos Collection – an eclectic mixture of cars spanning more than a century of motoring.
The no-reserve sale was conducted by online auction platform Bring a Trailer and bidding will open on the second 20-lot batch next month.
The ’Vette joined the collection five years ago, following refurbishment and modification by a previous owner.
Consequently, among the highlights of this Jewel Blue and white car are polished Colorado Custom wheels, vented disc brakes, an updated stereo system with display screen and keyless ignition.
Among the other high sellers were a trio around the $35,000 mark, including a Guards Red, 73,000-mile 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Targa and a modified 1929 Cadillac Model 341-B that achieved $35,964 and $35,000 respectively.
