The legendary Brooklands Museum in Surrey has received a £950,000 grant from the British government to ensure its future sustainability in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is one of 1385 cultural and creative organisations in the UK to be awarded funding via the government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF).
As the site of the first purpose-built motor-racing circuit in the world, it’s a location crucial to the classic-car community, showcasing its valuable collection and usually hosting a wide range of events and meets across the year, plus it has recently been announced as the second site for the Heritage Skills Academy.
Forced to close earlier this year because of the pandemic, Brooklands Museum reopened on 1 August. It is now welcoming visitors on Thursdays to Sundays, plus daily during half term (between 22 October and 1 November), and has strict COVID-19 measures in place.
