If you didn’t have the cash in the ’80s to make your V12-powered Jaguar dreams come true, then you’ve got a rare second chance.

This 1985 Jaguar XJ-S V12 has done just 120km (that’s 75 miles). Indeed, it has never been registered for road use.

It’s exactly how it was when it rolled off the production line 35 years ago, maybe with a little added dust, and now it is being offered for sale via online auction house Collecting Cars.

Finished in blue with a grey pinstripe, complemented by a dark-blue leather-trimmed interior, and with a three-speed automatic gearbox, this left-hand drive grand tourer was originally delivered to Germany, but has been in storage all its life, in Sweden for the last quarter of a century.

Collecting Cars explains that if this lot’s winning bidder is here in the UK, it can be brought here free of charge, courtesy of Phil Stott Motorsport.

The wood veneers in the cabin look immaculate, and with cruise control and air-conditioning, it’s well-specced for long-distance road trips – assuming you have the means to refuel its 5.3-litre V12 engine.

The 15-inch five-spoke alloy wheels look to be in pristine condition, although it would be wise to replace what are thought to be the original Pirelli P5 tyres before embarking on any adventure, due to their age.

The vendor says there are a few small age-related marks, but that it remains in excellent, original and unmodified condition.

All the badging it left the factory with is still in place, and it will be sold with its original, German-language service books, its toolkit, an unused spare wheel and some period brochures.

Of course, should the winning bidder wish to register this car for road use, it would be wise to book it in for a recommissioning service beforehand because while there are no known faults, it has barely moved in 35 years.
