Nine great British classic car designs and the people behind them will be showcased in a class at this summer’s London Concours, on 8-10 June.
One of the event’s three ‘special features’, it will celebrate two of the UK’s most famous motoring icons and their creators: Malcolm Sayer and the Jaguar E-type, and Sir Alec Issigonis and the Mini.
These will sit alongside Gordon Murray’s featherweight Light Car Company Rocket (above), his more famous McLaren F1 starring elsewhere at the concours.
The E-type isn’t the only Jaguar in the line-up, with a one-of-53 XJR-15 set to star, too, paying tribute to the work of Murray’s co-designer for the McLaren F1, Peter Stevens.
Another limited-run car, a one-of-200 Range Rover CSK will honour its designer, Charles Spencer King, while Ian Cameron’s work will be represented by a 2009 Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé.
