Jaguar Classic has confirmed full details of its limited-run C-type Continuation, which will make its public debut at this week’s Concours of Elegance.
The programme was revealed in January, to celebrate 70 years since the C-type’s launch and Le Mans victory, and in the intervening period the Continuation has undergone more than 1000 miles of high-speed durability testing.
All eight cars will be handbuilt at Jaguar Classic Works in Coventry to the same specification as the 1953 works C-types that scored the model’s second Le Mans win.
That means 3.4-litre, dohc, straight-six engines with triple Weber carburettors giving 220bhp, four-speed manual gearboxes, disc brakes and 16-inch, 60-spoke wire wheels.
Alongside the traditional methods used to build these cars, the C-type Continuation is the first Jaguar Classic car to be reproduced fully using 3D CAD, while an online configurator means prospective buyers, or anyone who fancies playing with it, can spec their perfect C-type.
