Supercars are coming to the British capital next month when the London Concours is back at the Honourable Artillery Company on 28-30 June.

Exotic machinery celebrating some of the best of high-performance cars will compete in the ‘Pursuit of Speed’ class, and leading the way for fans of classic cars will be a Jaguar XJ220.

For a period, the Jaguar XJ220 claimed to be the fastest production car in the world

This is the car that, when new, our sister title Autocar described as “the most accomplished supercar ever made”.

While it lost the V12 between concept and production, the twin-turbo V6 of the roadgoing version still gave it the ability to complete the benchmark 0-60mph sprint in just 3.7 secs with a 212mph top speed.

And today its beguiling shape and raw performance, free from driver aids, still inspires.

The Jaguar XJ220 will be joined by cars including a McLaren 675LT, in ‘Carbon Edition’ guise, the Woking marque’s 2015 homage to the McLaren F1 GTR, an example of the Ferrari 488 Pista revealed in 2018, one of just 100 Pagani Huayra Roadsters ever built, as well as 2016’s Koenigsegg Regera.

These add to a line-up that already features a class of Japanese motoring icons including a Toyota 2000GT, a Honda NSX-R and a set of Nissan Skylines, cars from the garage of prolific collector Rodger Dudding, including an Aston Martin Lagonda, and an effortlessly elegant showcase of Italian drop-tops.
