The countdown is on to a brand-new event in the classic car calendar, so let’s find out more about InterClassics’ Days of Elegance.
Coming to Château St Gerlach in The Netherlands, about a 20-minute drive north-east from Maastricht, on 18-19 June 2022, this concours d’elegance is an addition to the InterClassics portfolio.
It is a grand, historic and beautiful setting, the origins of the castle dating back to the 12th century, and therefore a fabulous backdrop for a fine display of classic cars.
The concours is the heart of the event, the judging taking place on the Saturday and awards distributed on the Sunday.
The cars vying for Best of Show glory will be split into five categories: racing cars (up to 1980); gentleman’s sports cars (1950 to 1980); modern sports cars (1980 to present); luxury touring cars (up to 1970); and ‘When Coachwork Becomes Art’ (pre-1960).
Casting their expert eyes over the entrants will be a 17-strong, international jury headed by Danish automotive historian and consultant Ben Erickson.
He will be joined by, among others, author Peter Larsen and Richard Keller, former curator of the Musée National de l’Automobile in Mulhouse, France.
As Days of Elegance makes its debut, the concours line-up will include a 1932 Alfa Romeo 6C-1750 Gran Sport Zagato sold new to Angelo Parodi, the boss of Moto Guzzi, and a Talbot-Lago T26C, chassis number 110008.
