The majestic Hampton Court Palace will host Concours of Elegance 2023

Hampton Court Palace, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, on the western edge of the city, is a magnificent yet compact setting that will host 60 of the world’s rarest cars.

For 2023 there will be a display honouring the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with Bentley ‘Old Number One’, the first car to score back-to-back victories at the event, and a 1952 Le Mans-winning Mercedes-Benz 300SL W194 already confirmed.

Auction house Gooding & Company will also be back, holding a live classic car auction at Hampton Court Palace’s Base Court and Clock Court on Friday 1 September.

The 2022 event’s Best in Show winner, uniquely chosen by the concours car owners themselves, was the striking 1938 Delage D8-120 ‘de Villars’ (pictured at the top of this page), but you’ll see classics of all ages at Concours of Elegance.

There are the often colourful and varied car club displays, plus the Junior Concours for half-scale, handbuilt, pedal, electric and petrol-powered cars will return on Sunday 3 September.

On the same day will be the third running of the 30 Under 30 Concours, for anyone who’s aged 30 or under who owns a classic car built between 1900 and 1999 – last year’s victorious car was a Ford Capri 2.8.

After a successful debut in 2022 where an Alfa Romeo P3 Monoposto took the spoils, the Levitt Concours is back this year, too, which features 30 classic cars all owned by women.
