From rebuilding Lancia Aurelias in a home garage in the 1990s to a packed unit on an industrial park near Zandvoort, the Dutch Schouwenburg brothers have built up an impressive reputation for Italian classics at Strada e Corsa.
Highlights include concours-winning work on Siatas and Fiat 8Vs that put these underappreciated rarities back on the map.
“Our interest started with my father,” says Lennart, the younger Schouwenburg. “He was a doctor, Italian cars were his hobby.”
“When I was born, I was collected from the hospital in a green Alfa Romeo Duetto that we still own,” he recalls.
“He also raced a Ferrari 250 SWB in the ’70s and during the summer we’d go to Zandvoort and the Nürburgring.
“He worked on the cars himself in a garage next to our house.
“My brother rebuilt the suspension on an Aurelia at the age of 14 and that really developed a passion for the mechanical aspect of these wonderful cars.
“‘Jurri’ helped my father prepare his cars and loved reading technical books.”
