Beautiful DB4 Series 4 with just 35,000 miles from new! (1962)

Originally supplied to agents J Blake in April 1962 in its original colour scheme of Moonbeam Grey over Terracotta this DB4 was first registered to Samuel McCrudden who owned and ran two hemstitching businesses. He used the car to convey him from home to work and between his two factories which were located in West Belfast, Northern Ireland. McCrudden kept the car for three years covering just 4,000 miles before selling it in 1965. It was then purchased by Viscountess Bury from Co Down, who also used it as her main mode of transport including two trips to Vienna when she drove all the way there and back! She recalls “I loved that vehicle and remember driving down the Autobahn at 125 miles per hour!” Despite these trips Viscountess Bury generally used the car sparingly and by the time she sold it in 1968 it had covered just 10,000 miles. The DB4’s next owner was Thomas McKee, also from Belfast, a building contractor who kept the car for mainly ornamental purposes. He sold it later in 1968 having covered just 1,500 miles admitting not having much enthusiasm for the car!
The next owner was a Dr Edelstyn, Co Down, who bought the DB4 late in 1968 and for the first 3 years of his ownership it had fairly regular use coving around 8,000 miles. However, after this period and for the next 16 years the DB4 became more of an object to be worked on rather than driven and it remained unregistered for most of this time. Unfortunately, Dr Edelstyn passed away in 1986 and its next owner, Arthur McLaughlin also a Co Down resident, purchased it from the family a year later as a ‘runner’ although there were “many matters that needed to be put right before the vehicle was safe!”
McLaughlin initially did enough to get the DB4 through an MOT and then after 6 months sent it to marque specialists Chapman Spooner for some light restoration and mechanical rectification. He parted with the car in 1994, after covering just 5,000 miles, when it was sold to Arthur McCallan also from Northern Ireland who then sold the DB4 at auction in 2004. Following the auction, it came back to mainland UK and into the care of another marque specialist, Chris Shenton, who undertook a much more extensive body, chassis and mechanical restoration between 2005 and 2009. It was subsequently sold to Mr Stanley West from Banbury in 2010 and then a Mike Rogers from Marlow in 2013. Rogers had the car maintained by Oselli before parting with it in 2018 when it was sold by Desmond J Smail Ltd to its current owner. The DB4 is in excellent condition, has had the benefit of a recent complete underbody overhaul, and comes with a comprehensive history file.
