The February 2023 Auction
1979 Land Rover 88 Series III
Extremely good condition having been part of a private collection
Registration: CJM 95V
Chassis: 90155723A
Odometer: 16,000
Transmission: Manual
MOT: Exempt
Recent restoration and carburettor refresh
ex-Military example with tasteful improvements
Presents and drives very well
Desirable petrol engine
Comes with a selection of bills and receipts for recent work
Here we have a very nice and presentable example of the very desirable Land Rover 88” 4-cylinder petrol with the synchromesh manual gearbox, which was a standard feature on this model. It was first registered on 14/8/1979 and would appear to have led an easy life judging by the way it presents and drives. It also benefits from some very nice features such as a recently new canvas hood, a bonnet mounted spare wheel, freewheeling hubs, Defender mirrors, rear grab handles, military style lifting eyes and a fresh interior with front seatbelts. The car is finished in Olive Green with green wheels and a khaki canvas roof, which really suits it. These Land Rovers are becoming very rare and one in this condition is even rarer especially having the petrol engine as many of them were swapped out for a diesel, which takes the originality away.
In summary, if you are looking for a Series III 88” with canvas roof and niceties, then this is the one for you. With the petrol engine, classic insurance, and tax and MOT exempt, this is a great and inexpensive way into classic Land Rover ownership. One for either your collection or to have a fun car for those special days out.
