1947 Rover 12 P2 Tourer - rare model (1947)

1947 Rover 12 P2 Tourer - rare model - now reserved
‘Rover - One of Britain’s Fine cars’ So ran the sales slogan of the period. The Rover range were aimed squarely at the aspirational middle classes of the immediate pre and post war periods and a fine range encompassed all sizes from 10 to 20 horsepower.
A most attractive variant in the 1947-48 range was the 12 hp Tourer. Equipped to the usual high standard, in fact just 200 of this model were produced - the first four bodied by Rover themselves, but the remainder by A.P.A Coachworks of Coventry.
Today, this model has a good survival rate, due to the excellent quality and good examples have always been sought after. The pleasing lines are further enhanced by the ‘disappearing hood’ design, whereby the hood is fully covered by a hinged tonneau panel when stowed.
This smart example was first registered on 1st June 1947 and has been the subject of major restoration over a number of years, including rebuilding the engine during 2016.
A substantial file of bills is included, together with the original Instruction Manual and Parts List. An old RF60 Logbook is also provided
The hood and sidescreens are in first class condition and a full tonneau cover is also included. A most distinctive, comfortable and capable family Tourer, it is sure to bring much pleasure to its next owner.
