1958 Jaguar XK150S 3,4 Roadster (1958)

1958 XK150S 3.8 Roadster. Original right-hand-drive UK car. One of only 44 RHD S Roadsters built.
The final iteration of the very successful XK line of cars, the 150 was launched by Jaguar in 1957. More spacious, luxurious and refined than its earlier XK cars, Jaguars new 150 marked the peak of the development curve and was the last separate chassis Jaguar sports car built.
In 1958 Jaguar introduced the S specification to the range which featured a revised cylinder head and triple SU carburettors significantly boosting the performance of the car. Of these S models the roadsters stand out as possibly the most elegant and certainly the rarest of the bread, with only 44 right hand drive S roadsters being built.
Our car is the 8th of these cars to be produced and was manufactured on 20th November 1958. Originally issued a Manchester registration, a number that the car retains to this day, and was sold by Henlys to a Mr HD Leate.  Over the years the car passed through the hands of a number of collectors including a brief holiday in Italy before returning to the UK and undergoing a full body-off restoration in the late 1990s performed by a number of the best know marque specialists. A very significant file of invoices from this work exists indeed the car has documentation stretching right back to a copy of its original log book.
Changing hands again shortly after its restoration, the car has been looked after without regard to expense through its next two owners finally arriving with its current keeper who is well known to this business. Now for sale, this rare and beautiful car is looking for its next custodian. One of the best driving experiences a Jaguar can provide, any 150 roaster is a special car. As an S and with some sensible upgrades including power steering, this is one of the best of the best. The driver feels immediately at home in the cockpit, comfortable and with reassuringly purposeful steering and brakes the car feels live and ready to perform. On pressing the accelerator on the open road the engine does not disappoint, the car surges forward and the exhaust emits and evocative sound track to add to the experience.
Sophisticated, rare and most importantly, fun, what more could one want from a sporting Jaguar.
