Description
This Porsche 911E Targa “Sportomatic” hit the road in 1974 for the first time. The “E” in 911E stands for “Einspritzer”, fuel injection. At the time it was a mid-range 911 engine option. The car’s birth certificate shows us this 911 still has its matching numbers, original engine. The 6-cylinder boxer engine develops 165 Ps transferred through the rare “sportomatic” semi-automatic. This sophisticated piece of engineering was the forerunner to the later tiptronic and PDK. The sportomatic is 4-speed with a clutch transformer activated by moving the poke. You shift gear without the use of a clutch. The car’s looks are as good as its mechanics. We have recently thoroughly overhauled the mechanics. It has a totally new suspension, the sportomatic has been overhauled, all-round new brake blocks fitted and the engine treated to a major service costing nearly € 10,000 in all. Mechanically speaking this Porsche is more than ready to go. The bodywork is also very neat. The panelwork is straight and correctly aligned. The Targa roof shuts securely and the iconic Fuchs rims are in good shape. The car had a cosmetic re-spray in its original “Hellgelb” finish. The black interior trim is neat with all instruments and controls in correct working order. This is a really nice Porsche 911 Targa with a rock solid mechanical fuel injection, a rare sportomatic gearbox and to top it all lots of recent maintenance. Get in and enjoy!
