1971 Triumph TR6 (1971)

The Triumph TR6 was a notable high point for small sports cars from the U.K., a handsome and powerful roadster that put some modern flair into the British tradition. It was built by British Triumph Motor Company between 1969 and 1976. The styling and mechanicals were aimed directly at the U.S. market, with more than 90 percent of the nearly 92,000 produced exported from England, most bound for America. The TR6 also featured semi-trailing arm independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, 15-inch wheels and tires, pile carpet on floors and trunk/boot, bucket seats and a full complement of instrumentation. Braking was accomplished by disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The TR6 construction has the body bolted onto a frame instead of the two being integrated into a unibody structure; the TR6 dashboard was wooden.

This TR6 is above and beyond in terms of upgrades! 6,000 miles since being restored in 2001 on what was a rust free California car. A Toyota 5-Speed Overdrive transmission conversion was completed with a close ratio W58 which absolutely transformed the driving capability. The engine was blue printed and balanced including .040 over bore, custom J.E. pistons, and hardened valve seats were installed. In addition, SU carb conversion, carb heat shielding and exhaust wrapped, electric cooling fan conversion, electric fuel pump, new wiring harness, the list goes on. And to handle all of these upgrades, the suspension was tuned accordingly so it corners like mad!
