Visitors to Monterey Car Week got a welcome respite from the record-breaking classic auctions and preened and perfect show cars with a trip to the Concours d'LeMons, Hagerty's annual gathering of the humble and hopeless. There were plenty of rust buckets, including a Karmann-Ghia driven by F40 Motorsports' Wayne Carini, plus countless curiosities such as an electric-powered Volkswagen pickup. To top things off, those displaying their cars offered free beer and doughnuts – just when you thought things couldn't get any better.
