BMW 2002 TURBO

2-door 4-seater saloon.

The right car at the wrong time, 2002 Turbo was Europe's very first turbocharged road car, arriving at heigh of 1973 energy crisis. Based on 2002tii shell and chassis engineering, but with 170bhp and 130mph top speed. Recognisable at first by deep front spoiler with mirror-written 'turbo' script, soon deleted because of adverse publicity. Rear spoiler and wheel arch extensions also unique to this fastest-of-all '02' model. Built only for one year, very few imported to UK. Because of engine bay layout, only left-hand-drive available. Very desirable.
