BMW 3.0CSL

2-door 4-seater coupé.

Ultimate derivative of famous coupé as 'homologation special' for saloon car racing. Light alloy skin panels, skimpy trim, general weight reduction, all with one purpose in mind. Engine size of 3003cc allowed car to fit larger capacity ETC class, and long-stroke version of this came a year later. 'Only' 206bhp on road cars - double that for racing. Only 39 of the striking 'Batmobiles' built 1973=75, with big rear aerofoil and other aerodynamic aids; CSL a race winner until later seventies. A very fine, charismatic motor car.
