BUICK GRAN SPORT

2-door 5-seater coupé/convertible.

Buick's broad shouldered 'sporty' car, sold as coupé or convertible on 112ins separate chassis found on the Skylark. Distinguished only by very powerful engines, 7.5-litre V8 from 1971 having 360bhp (gross). Rare here, and sales limited even in USA. 'Gran Sport' as separate range disappeared for 1972, back into mainstream Skylark range. Like most GM cars of periods GS had coil spring ifs, beam axle rear, many with synchromesh transmission, some with limited-slip differentials. One of the least notable USA 'muscle cars'.
