BUICK RIVIERA (1970-73)

2-door 4-seater fixed-head coupé.

Third generation Riviera had shortened Electra chassis, Buick's largest V8 engine, and all new 'E-Body' by Donald C. Lasky. Chassis no longer cruciform, but aligned with rest of Buick range, and coil spring rear suspension common with Electra on 122ins wheelbase. Still fast, but getting slower as engine power plunged from 330bhp in 1970 to 250bhp in 1973 (emissions...). Unmistakeable coupé shape, with big kick-up over rear wheels and sweeping boat-tail rear to same theme as 1963 Corvette Stingray.
