Cadillac
CADILLAC ELDORADO (1966-70)

2-door 5-seater coupé.

Cadillac's version of GM front-wheel drive layout first seen in Oldsmobile Toronado, with huge V8 engine and chain drive to automatic transmission. Massive separate chassis frame, torsion bar front suspension, and long-nose/short-tail style so typically Cadillac. All on 120ins wheelbase (almost the same as Toronado) but squarer, crisper styling. Biggest-ever Cadillac V8 with 400bhp gross for 1970 model only, good for 130mph at least, pre-Nader! How to overkill the Thunderbird and the Continental in one easy lesson, and was replaced by even larger front-drive design for 1971. Disc front brakes - thank goodness!
