CHRYSLER VALIANT
2-door 5-seater coupé, 4-door 5-seater saloon/estate.
Long-running and successful Chrysler 'compact' model, a direct descendant of original Valiant of 1959-60. Base models using well-known slant-six engine designed for that car, all with torsion bar front suspension. Original style rather angular on 108ins wheelbase, lengthened 3ins for 1974, made rather more rounded. Duster coupés added for 1970. Scamps derived from basic car for 1971. The right car for USA 'energy crisis' atmosphere - 381,000 sold in 1973, 477000 in 1974.
