DATSUN CEDRIC 260C/280C, TYPE 230

2-door 5-seater coupé/4-door 5-seater saloon/hardtop/estate.

Top of a very complicated Nissan/Datsun range throughout the seventies, and with a damned silly name. Cedric was a 15ft 4ins 'flagship', of typical Japanese/American layout, on 110ins wheelbase. In spite of massive domestic range of engines, sold in Britain only as a 260C, with 140bhp (gross) 2.6-litre engine, like 260Z coupé unit. Granada-sized car, sold only as saloon at first, followed by estate with three rows of seats from 1975. New super-structure and same running gear as Type 330 from 1976 in Britain, then became 2.8-litre 280C for 1978-80.
