Excalibur

Excalibur
EXCALIBUR SS

2-door 2-seater open sports.

Brook Stevens inspired this Mercedes-Benz replicar, with separate chassis, independent front suspension and a vast engine. First few with Studebaker engine, but all those seen here had Corvette power. Independent rear suspension, too, through seventies. Automatic transmission from 1974, power steering, discs and all mod cons by end of decade. For poseurs - rich poseurs at that. Maybe fewer than 250 cars built every year. Like all such cars, fat modern tyres made proportions ever so slightly wrong, and other vulgar Americanisms didn't help.
