Fiat
FIAT 600D (1960-70)

2-door 4-seater saloon.

Giacosa's masterpiece of 1955, up-engined in '60, coming to end of long run in '70 in Italy, but made years on in Argentina and Yugoslavia. Simple four-cylinder engine (roots lived on in 127 and Uno) was rear-mounted. Stubby fastback style, smaller than Topolino it replaced, but internally more spacious. Few refinements, rust-prone, noisy and crude, but reliable. Replaced for seventies by 127.
