FORD MUSTANG II

2-door 5-seater coupé/hatchback coupé.

Lee Iacocca's dramatically smaller, slower, more economical, second-generation mustang, dead right for the fuel-conscious times in the USA. 20ins shorter and 500lbs lighter tan superseded models. Some parts in common with Pinto, conventional unit-construction shell, coil spring front end. Most British sales had V6 (German-type) engine, with optional 5-litre V8 from autumn '74. No convertible body available (first time on a Mustang), but usual vast range of trim and mechanical option packages. At 14ft 7ins long, more obviously suited to British roads.
