FORD THUNDERBIRD (1971-76)
2-door 6-seater hardtop coupé.
Seventh generation model, now reduced to single coupé body style. Gargantuan V8 engines, automatic transmission, coil spring suspension all round, front wheel discs and power-assisted everything. This time on 120.4ins wheelbase - same chassis, engine, running gear and basic body structures as new Lincoln Continental Mk IV introduced at same time. Bigger and heavier than previous T-Bird. Sales held up well despite energy crisis to '76. No 7-litre engine after first season, and 'opera' windows added for 1974-76.
