Jaguar
JAGUAR XJ12 SERIES III

4-door 5-seater saloon.

Fabulous V12 engine Jaguar, updated for 1979 in line with six-cylinder models, but sales always slow due to high fuel thirst and cost of ownership. No manual transmission available, as ever. 285bhp at first but HE (High Efficiency) engine from 1981 produced 299bhp in silent splendour, while fuel consumption improved to 16mpg. Like all its relatives, badly hit by poor quality, but Egan regime from mid-1980 improved matters enormously.
