Jaguar
JAGUAR XJ5.3C

2-door 5-seater coupé.

More resourceful Robinson-inspired juggling - V12 engine in two-door pillarless coupé shell of XJ6C, on shorter-wheelbase floorpan. Production much delayed from announcement, so all cars called 5.3C instead of XJ12C, and had Bosch/Lucas injection, 285bhp, and 150mph top speed - 13mpg the penalty. After Yom Kippur War/energy crisis, sales were always slow, and image was not helped by traumatic Broadspeed race programme. But hang the expense, what a sexy, sleek, silky beast. Buy one - they're not going to be replaced.
