Lea-Francis

Lea-Francis
LEA-FRANCIS 1½-LITRE HYPER SPORTS S-TYPE

Saloon, 4-seater tourer, Weymann coupé, TT 2-seater.

The classic Lea-Francis, rare and expensive today. They all came in Cozette blown form, and were good for at least 85mph, maybe 90. Characteristic features include close ratio 'box, radiator tapering at the top and sloping at 15 degrees, low chassis, and an oil tank for the blower mounted on the dashboard. A genuine team car has a 22-30 gallon tank (depending on the race), others have 10 gallon tank. As befits a TT winner (in 1928), steering, brakes and roadholding are superb.
