First use of the four-cam V8: a true street model with engine derived from the 450S sports-racer. First few cars have gear-driven camshafts, four Webers, and four-speed 'box. Semi-elliptic rear springs as on all touring Maseratis of the period. All-disc brakes and a new engine (chain-drive camshafts) with Lucas fuel injection 1961. ZF five-speed 'boxes on most cars; top speed 170mph plus.
