Smooth, rather anonymous style hid conventional mechanical layout, with single cam engines, five-speed 'box on 2-litres, and optional automatic on saloons. Rigid axle coil spring rear suspension. A Cortina-sized car doing a similar job. 1.8-litre engine not sold in UK. Replaced by all-new front-drive 626 for 1983.
