MERCEDES-BENZ 290
Saloon, streamline saloon, cabriolet B, cabriolet C lang, Pullman, various specials.
A case of spot the difference, at least with saloons. Very much like a late model 200 in appearance, it's got a 2.9-litre engine, so it should be good for 70mph. Synchro available on third at long last and the whole car is solid in the best Mercedes tradition. Long and short chassis versions were made, the long wheelbase cars being, by and large, more attractive. A mere 14 different body styles in Germany, of which the Cabriolet A looks much like a 500K/540K in miniature. Disc wheels standard, wires optional.
