MG D-TYPE MIDGET

Open 4-seater, closed 4-seater.

M-type mechanics on a lengthened C-type frame, with an 84ins wheelbase initially, later extended to 86ins. Frame was underslung at the rear, the rear springs were eyeless and carried on sliding trunnions, the radiator was on an extension of the front engine mounting and the front semi-elliptics were underslung. Brakes were cable operated and the handbrake adjustable from the cockpit. Three-speed 'box was used, 60mph possible, but handling was impaired by the extra weight over the rear axle. 12-volt lightning unusual for a small car of this era.
