MG MIDGET MK III (chrome bumper)

2-door 2-seater sports car.

The third generation of sixties Midget, identical in all but badges with contemporary Sprite. Unchanged shape since 1961, but now with 65bhp de-tuned Cooper S type engine and 95mph top speed. Great driving fun, but cramped interior and hard ride. At last graced by convenient fold-down soft-top. Minor cosmetic facelift for 1970 with Rostyle wheels, and rounded rear wheel arch shape for 72. Outlived the Sprite, which died in mid-1971. Still a USA best-seller, but increasingly hit by new regulations. The last 'BMC' engined Midget.
