OPEL ASCONA (1975-81)

2-door/4-door 5-seater saloon.

Second generation Ascona which also formed the basis for the different-nosed Vauxhall Cavalier and for the Manta coupé/hatchback. Compared with original Ascona, had a 3ins longer wheelbase, was longer and wider, but still a Cortina-sized car. No 1.2s sold here, and 2.0-litres arrived from mid-1978. SRs were most sporty, Berlinas best equipped.
