Opel

Opel
OPEL REKORD (1966-72)

2-door/4-door 5-seater saloon/coupé/estate car.

Opel's West German equivalent to Vauxhall's Victor, complete with new family of 'cam-in-head' engines. Power outputs ranged from 60bhp to 102bhp, depending on engine, and top speeds up to 100mph. Marketed in UK from late 1967, most sales being of fastest and best equipped 1.9-litre versions. A solid, roomy (104ins wheelbase) car, with all-round coil spring suspension - pleasant and long-lasting rather than charismatic, but enormously successful all over Europe. Some with automatic transmission, all with servo front disc brakes. Six-cylinder not sold in UK.
