OPEL REKORD II
2-door/4-door 5-seater coupé/saloon/estate car.
New generation German cars, showing first signs of GM rationalisation with Vauxhall (sharing same floor pan and suspension with new generation Vauxhall Victor FE). Big, comfortable, well built but utterly conventional medium/large family car, also to be used as basis for new six-cylinder Commodore (see below). Smooth Detroit-inspired style, more successful than equivalent Vauxhall. Diesel-engine choice (almost unknown in UK) from end '72. Coupés with 97bhp 'S' engines were smart 100mph machines.
