PACKARD STANDARD 8 (1932-34)
5-seat saloon, 5-seat club sedan, drophead coupé, 7-seat limousine.
'32 sees introduction of three-speed synchro 'box (though you could order a four-speeder) and a new double drop frame with cruciform cross-bracing, hydraulic dampers, stabilising front bumpers and vee radiators. Available in two chassis lengths for '32, 130 and 137ins. '33 saw adoption of power brakes (Bendix vacuum operated with pedal pressure adjustable from dash) and dual carbs as well as 127½ and 136ins wheelbases. Skirted fender now in, to be more heavily skirted the following year when rad shell became chrome plated. '34 also saw another wheelbase permutation, this time 129ins.
