Railton

Railton
RAILTON 16.9 HP

Sandown saloon, Claremont drophead coupé.

Attempt to go downmarket, using the Hudson Six chassis with small bore engine as a basis. The engine had splash lubrication, three bearing crank, 12-volt electrics, three speed 'box with remote change, and like its big brother there were beam axles and semi-elliptics all round. Performance was unspectacular with 0-50mph in 16secs and 75mph being about the limit. At £399 for a saloon it didn't represent such good value as the Eight.
