RENAULT 5 GORDINI
3-door 4-seater hatchback saloon.
Best described as the French Mini-Cooper (and confusingly called 'Alpine', not Gordini, at home), the Gordini had 93bhp and a five-speed gearbox in the normal front-drive Renault 5 layout. A useful if not sensational competition car for which one-make racing series were organised, it had a 110mph-plus top speed and great joie-de-vivre. Replaced by the turbocharged Gordini in 1982.
