RENAULT PRIMAQUATRE

Saloon, special saloon, 6-seater saloon, 2/3-seater coupé, 4/5-seater coupé, 8-seater limousine.

The Autocar called this one 'a hearty strong kind of machine', in other words it was an excellent slogger in the time honoured Gallic tradition. Available before 1938 in two chassis lengths, 1121/2ins and 119ins, both of which had different rear axle ratios ranging for a 3.9:1 to a 4.3:1. All '38 s had thermostatic controlled radiator shutters, fan assisted cooling and servo brakes as well as the new bodywork (qv Celtaquatre). The new engine didn't help sales over here, as the increased bore gave it a 17.9hp rating - even the Acton works adding leather upholstery and a sliding roof, all for a modest £235, couldn't tempt buyers.
